Why Mary Cosby Is Returning To RHOSLC As A Friend

On Wednesday night The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City's season three reunion came to a close but everyone's already speculating about who will be back for season four. Jen Shah is headed to the can on February 17 so SLC's resident scammer is obviously out of the mix, but who is coming back for another round?
According to Page Six, cast members Heather Gay, Lisa Barlow, Whitney Rose and Meredith Marks are all set to return with their snowflakes for a fourth season alongside former Housewife Mary Cosby who's back as a friend.
In case your brain only has so much bandwidth for Bravo nonsense, Mary Cosby was an original SLC Housewife who married her step-grandfather and may or may not have run a cult. Returning as a "friend" is perfect for Mary because she was basically a side character when she was a Housewife anyway.
She can show up when she pleases, add her weird side comments while the other women brawl and whisper to herself about Heather being inbred as much as she wants. Some Housewives work better as "friends" just look at Kathy Hilton and Marysol Patton.
Sources told the outlet that Mary is ready to come back as "a friend" after she's grown closer to Meredith. The insider shared:
“They’ve reestablished a connection over the past year and have been texting and talking more in recent months.”
Although Mary ditched the show's second reunion, she apparently was prepared to return to RHOSLC for season three but needed time to "process" Jennie Nguyen's racism controversy. The source shared:
“Mary wanted to come back. [She] was dealing with a lot of trauma after Season 2. Jennie’s racist posts really seemed to shake Mary, especially after Jennie threw a glass at her on camera. Mary was grateful for the time away from the cameras, but she seems ready to get back in the mix.”
I'm calling bullshit on this. There's no way Jennie's scandal was the reason Mary didn't return for season three. Everybody knows if you skip a reunion you don't get asked back for the next season of the show - that's why Mary didn't appear last season - not because of Jennie.
This is the pot calling the kettle black. Yes, Jennie's resurfaced racist Facebook memes were bad but are we all forgetting the racist shit Mary said ON the show? That was one of the main reasons she didn't show up to the reunion along with all the rumours surrounding her church and/or cult. I'm all for Mary's return to the show but let's call a spade a fucking spade.
In addition to Mary rejoining the group, producers are also allegedly trying to find new women to bring into the mix and are unsure if any of the season three friends will return. In my opinion, the only "friend" who should receive a snowflake is Angie Katsanevas and even then it's a little bit of a stretch.
