Monique Samuels Charged With Assault After Candiace Dillard Fight & RHOP Cast Allegedly Want Her
Can these women go one season without the police getting involved?
A few weeks ago we reported on Candiace Dillard's physical altercation with Monique Samuels while filming The Real Housewives of Potomac season five, and now the situation has escalated to a whole new level with Candiace deciding to charge her former friend with assault.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Candiace filed a complaint directly with the court’s commissioner on Thursday, Nov. 7, and now after the court found "probable cause" Monique was officially charged with second-degree assault from the District Court of Montgomery County in Maryland. This is happening people.
In case you've been living under a rock, the two were filming with the rest of the cast at a vineyard when Little Miss Trust Fund decided to throw a drink in Monique's face, then things escalated with the mother of three pulling Candiace's hair and (allegedly) slamming her face into the table. Last season Candiace was BEGGING Monique to drag her and when she finally did, she pressed charges.
This legal drama comes as the cast has allegedly been refusing to film with Monique and want her fired due to her violent fight with Candiace. According to The Black Socialites Instagram account, who were the ones to initially report on the fight, apparently a "few of Monique's castmates" want her fired and the easiest way to do that is refusing to film with her.
If they don't film with her, then she has no footage to be aired. And by "cast" I'm guessing they just mean Candiace, Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon.
Another Instagram account, Tea Of Potomac, who always has inside and accurate tea on the show, confirmed the cast are refusing to film with Monique to get her fired and are treating her the way Porsha Williams was treated on The Real Housewives of Atlanta after her three physical altercations. Are you guys here for Monique becoming the Porsha of Potomac? Obviously, violence is bad but the ladies can't cut Mo out after one altercation.
If Monique is convicted of second-degree assault she could potentially be facing jail time. Obviously, violence is never the answer, but Candiace is taking this fight to the next level considering Monique has three small children to worry about. Candiace's attorney gave a statement to the outlet saying:
“At this time, we do not want to say too much and just allow the criminal process to play out. We only ask everyone to pray for our client Candiace and her family. The physical assault, humiliation and emotional distress have all been very painful and difficult for Candiace, as it would be for anyone attacked so viciously. We also pray that Monique will get some help. The summons to court charge of Second Degree Assault is just one step below first-degree assault and must be taken very seriously. This behavior has no place in our society."
This thing is so fucking extra and this will definitely be the "Michael Darby" storyline of season five. Monique's lawyer also gave a juicy statement and dragged Candiace in the process, saying:
“To be sure, my client did nothing but defend herself in the face of more very aggressive behavior by Ms. Dillard. If this event occurred during taping of the show, I am confident that the video will bear all of this out. My client has every right to file for a counter criminal summons, as well, and will consider doing so, while fully defending herself in this action that has been filed with the Court. Either way, I am confident that she will prevail on this matter. Going forward, we hope that Ms. Dillard seeks the help she needs to avoid creating these kinds of unsafe and unfortunate circumstances in and outside of the workplace.”
Monique is set to appear in court on December 23rd and The Real Housewives of Potomac will return to our screens in Spring 2020, which can't come soon enough.
