The Truth Behind The Shahs Of Sunset Cast Shakeup
The cast is looking very different for their latest season.
After the Shahs Of Sunset season seven trailer and press was released earlier this week fans were confused about the new cast lineup of the show's latest season. Reza Farahan, Mercedes Javid, Golnesa Gharachedaghi and Mike Shouhed are all returning in fulltime positions while Destiney Rose has been upgraded from her friend role and Nema Vand was added as the latest newbie.
This means that previous cast members Asa Soltan Rahmati and Shervin Roohparvar were demoted which was surprising because neither one had announced they were leaving the show and now it's been reported that it's probably because they weren't aware that they would be.
Although Asa announced via Instagram after the trailer dropped that she decided not to commit full time to this season due to her new baby, Tamara Tattles has a different tale of events. The shady gossip blog is reporting that at the start of filming Asa negotiated a new contract for a fulltime role, however in post production it was discovered that she really didn't have enough of a storyline to warrant a starring role due to her not showing her baby, not participating in the cast trips and having a strained relationship with the entire cast. She is only close with Adam and was invited as HIS plus one to MJ's wedding because the bride didn't want her there.
The demotion probably didn't come as a surprise to the Persian Pop Priestess because she took a back seat from the group this season and she doesn't want the negativity and drama to affect her baby's life. She'll still be paid according to the contract she negotiated at the start of filming however the number of episodes she'll appear in is unknown, probably not a lot if she negotiated a high fee which is likely with the show in its seventh season and a Persian always looking for the best deal.
The other demoted cast member is Shervin. Unlike Asa he was not expecting his fulltime position to be revoked and was allegedly pissed when he heard the news but after his bad edit last year with his Australian girlfriend and declining to show his love life or work life on the show it seems like the producers ultimately had nothing to show for him except partying scenes which caused him to be exiled to a friend role also after they were done filming and was barely even seen in the trailer. Sherv has never been the biggest personality on the show so I think a background position suits him more because I still want him there in some capacity but it doesn't mean that he has to hold a space on the show.
Due to Asa and Shervin no longer having big enough storylines to constitute a fulltime position on the show, Destiny was upgraded due to her storyline about finding her long lost father and dating this season. She's already apparently grown close to MJ which is a good place to be when she is set to be the star of season seven. Newbie Nema was also given a starring role after the producers were "fascinated" with his family relationships. He was introduced by Mike and will most likely have some scenes edited in episodes prior to him actually meeting the group.
How do you feel about the new cast? Will you miss Asa and Shervin being around all the time? Sound off in the comments!
