Shade of the Week: Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest's squeaky clean, good boy persona has officially been scrubbed out in the wake of all the Oscar mess that went on due to E! declaring that he wasn't actually guilty of sexually assaulting his personal stylist. Let's break it down.
E! confirmed that they found that Ryan was innocent because of insufficient evidence. Um, how do you find evidence of something like this occurring? His accuser Suzie Hardy, later stated that he sexually harassed for years by pressing up against her with his erect penis, touching her vagina and slapping her butt so hard that she developed welts. Damn, that's a hard slap. Suzie claims that she didn't speak up sooner because it was good pay and the hours allowed her to drop off and pick up her daughter from school. Poor Suzie.
Suzie said that the independent investigator brought into the case "white washed" it for Ryan's side and never even contacted the 4 witnesses she had to cooperate elements of her story. Apparently he was super touchy feely and gifted her thousands of dollars worth of presents in an attempt to date her but she wasn't interested. A witness even came forward saying that she saw Ryan press Suzie's face into his crotch while she was tying her shoes. What the actual fuck? If you read the entire very detailed Variety article it's hard not to believe Suzie's side. Why would she make it up? Frankly, I think the most shocking part of this entire mess is that it almost confirms that he isn't gay.
Ryan proclaimed his innocence in a statement following the article saying:
“Sadly, last fall I became one of the accused, which I promptly revealed proactively to the network involved and to the public. And to be equally clear, those accusations were then investigated by an independent third-party over the course of a two-month process and involved dozens of interviews that included me, the accuser and countless others. Ultimately, my name was cleared."
It seems like the television personality's words weren't enough because stars all over Hollywood came together and decided to boycott Ryan at the 90th Academy Awards in the wake of all the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements that we are currently living in. E! even set up a 30 second delay so they could cut the live feed if anyone went off on Seacrest, which happened at The Golden Globes when Debra Messing and Eva Longoria shaded E! on E! about underpaying of Catt Sadler. Can we talk about E! in general for a second.
For a network that's viewership is mostly made up of girls and gays, they have been getting a lot of flack for all their shady ways in the #MeToo movement. Not only did they underpay Catt, they also fired the producer who allowed the comments about her at the Golden Globes to air, even though it was on live TV, and they also kept Ryan Seacrest as their host amid his sexual assault allegations. That just isn't okay. E! needs to get it together because the only thing keeping them afloat right now are the Kardashians and they are obviously on their last leg of their never-ending reality show.
Only 21 celebrities approached Ryan on the red carpet which is a stark difference to the wide variety of celebs who normally pass by him on an average year. Actresses such as Viola Davis, Jennifer Garner, Mira Sorvino, Ashley Judd, Margot Robbie and Sandra Bullock all rejected requests to talk to Ryan on the red carpet which was more than awkward for the always smiling presenter. Taraji P Henson did stop by him and said “The universe has a way of taking care of good people,” touching his chin. “Know what I mean?” Many thought it was shade but Taraji stated that she was trying to keep it positive, but at least someone's on his side.
Kathy Griffin also joined the conversation and actually offered Suzie a styling job for her appearances on Jimmy Kimmel and Real Time this week. She said that she'll help her for speaking out and being brave because no one helped her. Suzie spoke up about being sexually assaulted by a celebrity and Kathy just posted a photo of her holding the dead presidents head. I don't think those two things are on par as bravery.
Ryan just needs to go away. I think that the storm will definitely settle and he'll go back to being the loveable, possibly gay presenter that America knows and tolerates. Luckily the red carpet season is over but Ryan still has to commit to his duties at Live and American Idol. It's awkward for everyone involved and he should just go into the background and get off out TV screens. Personally I believe that he should lose his jobs and retire to a life with the Matt Lauers and Harvey Weinsteins of the world but Seacrest is a cockroach and he isn't going anywhere anytime soon!
